Study Shows a Clear Relationship Between Health and Where You Live

A new report shows that people who live in the suburbs are less healthy than people who live in denser cities. America’s obesity epidemic has for the most part been blamed on diet but this study suggests that urban planning might be a major cause. The reason is that shops are far removed form homes and blocks are very large. It does not encourage walking. Comparing the suburbs of Cleveland to Manhattan showed that the people living in suburbs are 6 pounds more and have higher blood pressure. Hopes are that this study will build awareness to these types of developments and will encourage that walkable communities be built in the future.
