In my previous post I talked about how in the future we will be needing to retrofit our malls and redevelop our suburbs into mixed use communities that are human scale rather than reliant on the car. One great example of this is the redevelopment of the Cottonwood Mall in Utah. This mall is known for being the first mall in Utah and now is being known as the first mall to be turned into a neighborhood.

An unused subway stop located under New York City is starting to attract people. The photos below show the “City Hall” stop that was opened in 1904 however it has not been used for many years. The reason for this is that the “City Hall” stop had very curved tracks. When the train has redesigned, this created a gap that made it dangerous to enter and exit the train.

On Friday, Berlin city officials unveiled the finalists in a landscape design competition to decide the future of historic, out-of-service Tempelhof Airport. Proposals for the airport have included erecting mountains, digging lakes and establishing luxury medical centers. While less outrageous, the current crop of proposals are far more likely to happen.
